Communication, one of the six general competencies, is an important factor in quality healthcare delivery. Because of this, it’s interesting to note that online communications between physicians and patients continues to increase.

This year, 39% of doctors reported communicating with patients online, according to findings from health-information firm Manhattan Research, a unit of Decision Resources Inc., reported in The Wall Street Journal. Five years ago, only 16% of doctors reported communicating with patients online.

Findings like these beg the question how will your medical staff incorporate online communication assessments into quality reviews.
