How dire is our healthcare crisis?

Dear readers,
I received an e-mail from Michelle Obama yesterday asking me to help improve healthcare in our country. Since I don’t personally know the First Lady, chances are many other people received the same e-mail. In her message, the First Lady asked me to participate in a National Health Care Day of Service event in my community on Saturday, June 27. No doubt the e-mail was part of the larger strategic plan by the president’s administration to bring about healthcare reform.
I’m sure that many of you feel that your daily work is dedicated to healthcare improvements by nature of your role as an MSP—and you’d be right.
I’m curious to know what you as members of the healthcare work force think about the national dialogue going on about our “broken healthcare system.” Is it really as bad as the talking heads on TV are making it out to be? Do you feel motivated to fight for change outside of your 9-to-5 (and sometimes longer than that) job? E-mail me your thoughts on the healthcare reform debate from an MSP’s perspective and we’ll print them in an upcoming issue of the Credentialing Resource Center Connection.
Sincerely,
Emily Berry, associate editor
