Pledging to cut up to $1.7 trillion in healthcare spending over the next ten years, representatives from industry leaders, including the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), met in Washington on Monday to outline their plan, according to a June 1 Wall Street Journal article.

The group made some administrative suggestions to help cuts costs that could impact the work of MSPs, including proposing to improve measurements of physician performance and streamline administrative tasks.

Yet, some were skeptical of the scope of the plans laid forth. "To bend the cost curve, you really have to change the whole system in a substantial way," David Nexon, senior executive vice president at the Advanced Medical Technology Association, told the paper. "That's not an easy exercise to go through."
