A Tulsa, OK anesthesiologist was arrested last week on complaints of possession of anabolic steroids and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to an April 18 Muskogee Phoenix article. A day after being released on bail, the practitioner attempted to return to work at Muskogee Community Hospital. Hospital officials told him he could not work and his privileges were suspended.
“We suspended his privileges until we can find out what’s going on. His arrest doesn’t fit in with the criteria of what our medical staff needs to be,” hospital spokesperson Mark Roberts told the paper.
Brad Stahlheber, MD, the anesthesiologist, was investigated as part of a larger steroid trafficking investigation that has been ongoing since January 2007. Several other individuals were arrested the same day, including an Oklahoma City firefighter.
