With all of the work that the medical staff services department is responsible for, things can fall though the cracks. A tracking form for outstanding items can help ensure that those responsible follow-up on the necessary items. If you keep electronic meeting minutes, try using a different color font or highlighting a cell to draw attention to issues that require further action. This form can be shared with the committee or department chair. Keep a copy in the file that you take to each meeting so you can easily refer to the outcome of an issue if someone asks about it.
This week’s tip is from The Medical Staff Meeting Companion: Tools and Techniques for Effective Presentations, by Kathy Matzka, CPMSM, CPCS.
