The next meeting of the MS.1.20 task force is set to meet in March, according to the January issue of Joint Commission Online. This task force was created in January 2008 to analyze the impact of MS.1.20 on medical staffs. Simply stated, the standard concerns what information falls into medical staff bylaws rather then policies and procedures. Critics of the standard argue that it includes confusing language regarding the term “organized medical staff,” and it appears to diminish the authority of the hospital board and medical executive committee.
