Ask the expert: What’s the best process for revising draft core privileging criteria?

For each specialty, assemble the information you have gathered, along with the draft core privileges, accompanying a sample procedure list (if applicable), the threshold criteria, any special non-core procedure requests for each core, and any established criteria. If your organization has a vice president of medical affairs (VPMA) or a credentials committee chair, involve that person in the development of each draft. He or she should also review each draft before you share it with the appropriate department chair.
