A new study which tracked knee replacement patients found that patients were happier with their outcome when they had similar treatment goals to their practitioner, according to a January 19 Washington Post article. This study highlights the importance of practitioner-patient communication, which has been a growing trend in healthcare.

The study, originally published in the January issue of Arthritis & Rheumatism (Arthritis Care & Research), also found that patients were more likely to comply with follow-up care if they agreed with their practitioner’s goals. Researchers tracked 27 health-care providers and 74 patients with severe osteoarthritis in the study.
