Zagat ranks physicians for insurers
Credentialing & Verification Update, December 23, 2008
Blue Cross and Blue Shield has announced it will make physician rankings provided by dining guide publisher Zagat available to members in North Carolina. Zagat already ranks physicians for WellPoint, a health benefits company that offers Blue Cross plans in several states.
Zagat collects and compiles survey information on physicians from plan members based on four criteria: trust, communication, availability, and office environment. Physicians earn a score on a scale between one and 30 in each category, as well as an overall score. Additionally, patients can leave comments about their experience with a particular physician.
