Q&A: Can I verify osteopathic physicians' (DO) credentials online?
Credentialing & Verification Update, December 9, 2008
Yes. The American Osteopathic Association (AOA) provides online credentials verification profiles for member doctors of osteopathic medicine (DO) available at https://www.doprofiles.org.
Each profile includes:
- AOA-accredited/approved pre- and postdoctoral education and training dates of attendance and completion
- All state licenses held with expiration dates
- Osteopathic specialty board certification(s) and expiration dates
- Certification by member board(s) of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- AOA-accredited CME status
- DEA status
- State and federal sanction alerts
- Former names
When used in conjunction with other approved credentialing procedures, AOA profiles are accepted as primary source verification for verifying osteopathic medical education, osteopathic postdoctoral training, and osteopathic specialty board certification by the AOA Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), The Joint Commission, NCQA, and URAC.
Online profile orders are available instantly for $16 each, paper orders are processed within five business days for $22 each, and faxed requests are available within 24 hours for $25 each.
Visit https://www.doprofiles.org to create an account or request a profile.
