Q&A: Can I, as an MSP, be personally and successfully sued for negligent credentialing?
Credentialing & Verification Update, November 25, 2008
Most likely not. Unless a case can be made against you that clearly shows you recklessly disregarded hospital policies and regulatory standards, it is unlikely that you will be held personally accountable should your hospital face a negligent credentialing lawsuit. It’s additionally important to keep in mind that successful negligent credentialing cases are rare. Medical staff credentialing policies ensure a series of checks and balances, through actions such as primary source verifications and credentials committee reviews, in order to avoid negligent credentialing actions.
