Transplant surgeon on trial for speeding patient's death

The trial of a transplant surgeon accused of speeding up his patient’s death in order to harvest organs began last week in San Luis Obispo, CA, north of Los Angeles, according to the Associated Press (AP). Hootan Roozrokh, MD is charged with one count of felony dependent adult abuse for allegedly prescribing too much medication to patient Ruben Navarro in February 2006.
It is believed to be the first such trial against a transplant doctor and is expected to last three months, according to AP.
