Los Angeles hospital to fire 19 over criminal records

The Martin Luther King Jr.-Harbor Hospital in Los Angeles will fire at least 19 employees and discipline at least 45 more after county health officials discovered scores of employees with criminal records remained on staff at the hospital even after background checks revealed past crimes.
The checks that uncovered the employees’ criminal records were made after regulators closed the hospital last year for failing to meet minimum standards for patient care.
