Reappointment is a great time to require that practitioners refamiliarize themselves with organizational expectations, policies, and procedures. Many organizations are developing online training modules that allow a practitioner to log in at convenient times to complete the reorientation process.
If online modules are not an option, another method is to copy the information to a CD-Rom and send the information to the practitioner. However, you may want to require a post-test and an attestation form to ensure that the practitioners have indeed reviewed the information. You can then tie this orientation refresher to the practitioner’s reappointment, and failure to complete the online refresher courses could result in deeming the reappointment application incomplete.
This week’s tip is from The Essential Guide to Medical Staff Reappointment, by Anne Roberts, CPMSM, CPCS.
