The Joint Commission recently addressed its intent for the requirements for the ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE) in a Q&A on its Web site. The answer was divided into the following four parts:
1. The intent: to look at performance data on an ongoing basis
2. The process: which is broken down into four parts
3. The data: suggestions for collecting it
4. The results: what to do with the collected information
