From the CRC Blog: Job satisfaction starts with you
Credentialing & Verification Update, August 27, 2008
In a few short weeks I will be making a major change in my working world. I'm leaving a position I've held with an organization for over 18 years! I'm making the change to take on new challenges, a pay increase, and an opportunity to share my knowledge with a wider audience. But the decision to change jobs wasn't easy. In fact, the decision was extremely stressful. Now that I have made my decision, however, I am now moving on; wrapping things up at one end and gearing up at the other.
If you are thinking about your current position and wondering if it as good fit for you, consider what I learned from my recent experience. There is no "perfect" job. The hours at another job may be different, the drive to and from work may be longer, and the salary may be higher, but it is the excitement and satisfaction of job performance that makes it fulfilling.
As MSPs, we are driven to perform by the knowledge that our efforts add value to the organization and that we are appreciated and respected by bosses and peers. MSPs don't have to be managers to make things happen; we see the goals and stay focused on reaching them. MSPs look for the place where we can demonstrate leadership and the place where we can make a difference. Once we find that place, we'll have a job we love!
