“Site visit” terminology is not used, nor is the concept addressed, in The Joint Commission standards. Although site visits are not a component of the renewal of privileges or reappointment process, a Joint Commission survey may encompass practitioner office sits or clinics that the hospital owns. Therefore, practitioners (LIPs, APRNs, and PAs) at these sites must be privileges through the organized medical staff.
