Ask the expert: What language can I include on an application to ensure applicants know the burden of competency is on them?

Not only is the applicant responsible for ensuring that all information provided on the application or associated documents is true, correct, and complete, he or she is also responsible for ensuring that all other requested information is received and that any inaccuracies are clarified to the satisfaction of the organization.
To express these requirements to the applicant, you can include the following line on an application: “Applicant acknowledges that the burden of producing requested documentation to support his or her application for initial and ongoing eligibility for membership or privileges is the responsibility of the applicant.”
