Remain organized and professional in your approach as you substantiate the need for additional resources. Identify an ally in the medical staff leadership who understands the workload and backs your requests. Remind leadership of the cost of one negligent credentialing settlement versus additional staff and resources.
Conduct a time analysis of the office’s activities to show how many full-time employees are needed to accomplish the responsibilities of the medical staff office, and present the findings to the administration as well as the leadership of the medical staff. Be sure to include all the responsibilities you are asked to perform on a day-to-day basis (including those walk-in interruptions and phone calls!)
