The Joint Commission (formerly JCAHO) published a list of standards and requirements that were most frequently identified as "not compliant" in surveys from January 1, 2007 through June 30, 2007 in the February 2008, edition of Joint Commission Online. The two medical staff standards identified in the list are MS.4.10 and MS.4.15.
The following are the definitions cited by Joint Commission Online for each standard:
MS.4.10: The CAH [critical access hospital] collects information regarding each practitioner's current license status, training, experience, competence, and ability to perform the requested privilege.
MS.4.15: The decision to grant or deny a privilege(s), and/or to renew an existing privilege(s), is an objective, evidenced-based process.
