According to The Joint Commission's medical staff standards, "clean applicants"-that is, applications that are complete, clear, and without red flags-may be fast-tracked or expedited. In this case, the governing board delegates authority to a subcommittee of at least two members rather than requiring a full meeting of the board for final approval. Hospitals are required by the Joint Commission to clearly define what criteria would exclude an applicant from being fast-tracked.
