Experience has taught physicians that data can be used against them or to accuse them of being bad physicians. The same can be said for allied health professionals. Instead of approaching data with the goal of determining why an AHP's performance is bad, the organization should approach the data by asking why the AHP's performance is different. This approach reduces an AHP's natural defensiveness. It also allows the use of imprecise data that can still be helpful in a constructive and improvement-oriented discussion.
This tip was taken from AHP Competencies: A Method for Effective Assessment, by John R. Rosing, MHA, FACHE and Cindy Gassiot, CPMSM, CPCS.
