The Federal Communications Commission announced that it will spend $417 million dollars in grants over the next three years to improve technology in rural health centers, according to a November 20 Washington Post article.

About 6,000 rural hospitals, research centers, universities and clinics will receive the grants to build high-speed internet connections at their facilities. This improvement will benefit almost all members of the healthcare communities, from doctors who will be able to consult with far away peers about a patient's illness to MSPs who will be able to verify information online faster.
