CMS recently posted information about its audit and enforcement initiatives regarding Medicare Advantage (MA) and Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) organizations.
The information includes the type of conduct the agency has been auditing or monitoring, the basis for any enforcement action, the penalty or other consequence imposed, and any remedial action or other effort required by CMS.
CMS oversees the operation of MA and PDP organizations through monitoring and performance audits. When CMS finds an organization that is not in compliance, it generally issues a corrective action requirement letter, outlining the steps the organization must take to be in compliance.
