Specification version 8.3 of the Integrated Outpatient Code Editor released
On September 21, CMS issued a transmittal announcing specification version 8.3 of the Integrated Outpatient Code Editor (I/OCE). The I/OCE routes all institutional outpatient claims (including outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS) and non-OPPS claims through a single integrated OCE.
Effective date: October 1, 2007
Implementation date: October 1, 2007

Revised coverage of magnetic resonance imaging procedures
On September 21, CMS issued a transmittal clarifying the separate payment policy for the contrast media used in various magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
Effective date: January 1, 2007
Implementation date: October 22, 2007

Revised coverage of lumbar artificial disc replacement
On September 21, CMS issued a transmittal relating to its September 11 revision of the national coverage determination (NCD) for lumbar artificial disc replacement (LADR). CMS will no longer cover LADR for Medicare beneficiaries over age 60.
Effective date: August 14, 2007
Implementation date: October 1, 2007
