Revised coverage of lumbar artificial disc replacement
On September 11, CMS issued a transmittal revising the national coverage determination for lumbar artificial disc replacement (LADR). CMS will no longer cover LADR for Medicare beneficiaries over age 60.
Effective date: August 14, 2007

Revised coverage of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty
On September 12, CMS issued a transmittal revising the national coverage determination for percutaneous transluminal angioplasty with carotid stent placement for beneficiaries at high risk for carotid endarterectomy.

Revised transmittal on changes to the national coverage determination for ultrasound diagnostic procedures
On September 12, CMS issued a transmittal rescinding and revising its September 6 transmittal on changes to the national coverage determination for "ultrasound diagnostic procedures."

On September 12, CMS issued a transmittal announcing the release of the October 2007 quarterly update to the average sales price files for drugs, as well as possible revisions to prior quarterly updates.
