On July 20, CMS released a transmittal correcting erroneous information from Chapter 13 of the Medicare Claims Processing Manual in regard to PET scan services. Procedure 78609 is removed from the list of covered codes (effective 1/28/2005).

The not otherwise classified (NOC) radiopharmaceutical code, A464, is not an applicable tracer code for PET scans (effective 1/1/2008).
