JCAHO sends inspectors to DC facility

Healthcare Auditing Weekly, June 12, 2007

The Joint Commission, a national hospital accrediting organization, sent inspectors to Greater Southeast Community Hospital last week, the day the D.C. Department of Health also demanded significant improvements in the Southeast D.C. hospital's operations.

The Joint Commission sent three inspectors to Greater Southeast Friday to review its staffing and patient care compliance.

If they find any deficiencies, the commission would issue an online report to the hospital, giving them 45 calendar days to fix them. Failure to do so in that time frame could cause the hospital to lose accreditation. A commission spokeswoman said she didn't know how long the review would last or when the inspectors would report their findings.
