CMS clarifies discarded drugs and biologicals policy

On May 25, CMS issued a transmittal clarifying that Medicare will cover the amount of a single-use vial or single-use package of a drug or biological that was discarded along with the amount of that single-use vial/package that was administered to the patient.

Effective Date: July 1, 2007
Implementation Date: July 2, 2007
