CMS released a display copy of the much-anticipated National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) Data Dissemination Notice (CMS-6060-N), which describes the policy for making certain NPPES provider data available to covered entities. The notice contains the following provisions:
- CMS will make the data publicly available on June 28
- The data will be accessible by downloading an initial file from a dedicated Web site, with monthly update files also available, and by searching a query-only database
- Healthcare providers should review their NPPES data and make any necessary updates or corrections prior to June 28
