CMS publishes Inpatient Prospective Payment System proposed rule
On May 3, CMS published in the Federal Register its proposed changes to the Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment Systems (IPPS) and fiscal year 2008 rates. Comments will be accepted until June 12, 2007, and the IPPS final rule will be published late in the summer.

CMS publishes 2008 final rule on the long-term care hospital payment system; final rule also addresses graduate medical education payment changes in an acute care setting
On May 1, CMS published the display copy of the 2008 long-term care hospital final rule. In addition to making changes relating to the long-term care hospitals, the final rule makes various changes to CMS policy on graduate medical education payments to teaching hospitals.
