Report finds fraud, waste in state-run charity program

A state-run charity care program designed to help hospitals care for uninsured residents is riddled with fraud and mismanagement, according to report released by New Jersey's State Commission of Investigation.

The Associated Press reports that the commission found the so-called charity care program has fallen victim to uninvestigated fraud allegations and a failure by the state to pursue opportunities to recover money from private insurance carriers, litigation settlements, and other programs.
