State appoints head to Medicaid fraud fighting team

U.S. Attorney Jim Sheehan has agreed to become the new Medicaid inspector general for the state of New York, according to a state press release.

As Medicaid Inspector General, Mr. Sheehan will oversee the fraud and abuse enforcement activities of New York's $50 billion Medicaid program.

The announcement comes only a few weeks after New York passed its new False Claims Act.
