In today's fast-paced, highly regulated world of healthcare auditing, staying up to speed with the hot topics and concerns facing the industry is vital. New auditors should also be aware of what they need to accomplish in order to efficiently perform their newly assigned tasks.
Luckily, there is one basic method that will solve the problem at both ends: up-to-date and frequent training.
The early stages
Even though auditors already have significant auditing and/or healthcare knowledge when they start at CHAN Healthcare Auditors, training begins the first day for new hires, says Debi Weatherford, an audit director for CHAN in Atlanta. St. Louis-based CHAN has more than 250 auditors working in 350-plus hospitals.
