Last month, SHCC looked at an overview of the recovery audit contract (RAC) project and the possibility of its national implementation. A glimpse at the types of claims that the California RAC has requested in the past two years is a good indication of what might be in store if Medicare rolls out the program nationwide. Some of the records that the California RAC has requested include a specific set of diagnosis-related groups (DRG), medical necessity of acute-care rehab services, and even some outpatient claims.
