I recommend that everyone closely review Section 6(d) of the April OPPS update transmittal. That section deals with "Correct Reporting of Units for Drugs." It is easy to make errors in reporting the units of service for drugs. The transmittal provides several good examples of how to correctly report units of service for drugs. As explained in the transmittal, it is important to report drugs based on the HCPCS Level II code long descriptors rather that the short descriptors (such as those used in Addendum B). This is a significant chargemaster issue.
