Revenue manager discusses highs and lows of a career in healthcare
Somewhere in the middle of one of Michigan's largest health systems sits Joe Rivet, CPC, CCS-P, revenue cycle manager for the Department of Medicine. Piles of reports line his desk and some are neatly situated on the floor. Behind them lies a large, wooden bookcase stuffed with tool kits, reference manuals, CMS publications, and family mementos. The sight of the office may indicate that it belongs to a middle-aged professional, but in-stead, a young professional works there. At only 28 years old, Rivet has worked his way up from an entry-level coder to a revenue manager at one of the Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System's largest departments.
