A hospital money-back guarantee? Two groups think it’s a good idea

Two large Midwestern groups are suggesting that hospitals become more accountable for mistakes, just like their counterparts in the automobile and restaurant industries, reports the Chicago Tribune.
The Leapfrog Group, which is a national coalition of large healthcare purchasers, and the Midwest Business Group on Health, say hospitals could improve their image by adopting a new policy on 28 healthcare "never" events and offer a money-back guarantee.
Malpractice suits would cost the hospital much more than the bill for the procedure.
