Monitoring: Steps for achieving department buy-in

  • They don't understand what we do-and they don't ask, listen, or care!
  • Why do we have to do this? It doesn't mean anything to us!
  • Does anyone understand how hard it will be to do this?

    Failing to anticipate pushback from managers is one of the most common mistakes that compliance offers make when setting up decentralized monitoring. For most people, job changes can be difficult. In some cases, compliance monitoring represents a significant change for department managers. Foresee that managers may resent new compliance-monitoring duties- especially if they perceive the monitoring tool as simply one more report to complete.
