The OIG released its fiscal year 2007 Work Plan this week, which establishes its intention to work on a set of various projects throughout the upcoming year.

The 93-page plan includes projects planned for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), public health agencies, the Administration for Children and Families, and the Administration on Aging.

Up for review in the work plan:

  • CMS' oversight of patient safety and quality of care at specialty hospitals
  • Payments for diagnostic x-rays in emergency rooms
  • Admissions to long-term, acute-care hospitals
  • Rehabilitation and critical-access hospitals
  • Outpatient department outliers
  • Unbundling of hospital services
