Bridge the gap between clinical and coding language

Language differences can be one of the toughest hurdles to overcome when it comes to training physicians to comply with coding and billing regulations. Physicians are not always familiar with the differences between clinical and coding terms, nor are they always willing to accept the difference.
Our experts, Stacie Buck, RHIA, CCS-P, LHRM, vice president of Southeast Radiology Management in Stuart, FL, and Betty Bibbins, MD, president and chief medical officer of DocuComp, a physician-owned medical records consulting group, say there are only two effective solutions to combat this serious problem: Either get a trainer that the physicians will respect, or let them learn the hard way.
