Using patient information in staff meetings

Q: Can we use patient information to demonstrate operational processes during staff meetings?

A: Yes. This is an appropriate use of PHI for healthcare operations, as long as the demonstration is pertinent to the discussion and you use the minimum amount of information necessary. You should use deidentified information whenever possible, but it's probably not feasible in this instance.
