When conducting a risk assessment, one of the best ways to obtain information from your organization is to ask managers and staff to fill out risk questionnaires. A comprehensive questionnaire process that involves knowledgeable and experienced management from various levels of the organization can provide excellent insight into possible business vulnerabilities.
The power of using the risk questionnaire approach is that the risks are identified by those who know the organization best. When all of the answers from management are aggregated, they paint a picture of management's perspective about the organization and those areas that may require attention.
Remember that there are no right or wrong answers.
The answers to questions do not require researching reports or institutional data for information. The questions are predicated on the assumption that managers have sufficient familiarity with their departments and with the organization as a whole, so most of the answers will be subjective.
