The government is cracking down on compliance violations of healthcare contractors and vendors, so it's a good idea to ensure that these folks are trained in compliance, and that your facility hires experienced people.
That's the message from Jim Sheehan, assistant U.S. attorney for the eastern district of Pennsylvania, who addressed the Health Care Compliance Association during the organization's 10th Anniversary Compliance Institute, held April 23-26 in Las Vegas. "I would focus on the people who are in [your facility] as contractors, consultants, and vendors.
What have they told people in your organization? What is being communicated to your organization by outsiders?"
Sheehan also said to ensure that consultants offer their advice in writing. That way, there's a written record if problems occur.
