A Pittsburgh chiropractor pleaded guilty of one count of health care fraud on Monday and could face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for defrauding insurance companies of $8.2 million, according to Columbus Business First.

Markell Boulis, 44, sponsored seminars for chiropractors on how to build their practices, encouraging them to use National Insurance Auditors to collect money for unpaid bills, without informing them that he owned the company, according to U.S. Attorney Gregory Lockhart. Boulis would then alter the insurance codes on their bills and collect double payments from the insurance companies.
