OIG: New Jersey hospital overstated wage data by $311,908

The OIG has determined that Hackettstown (NJ) Regional Medical Center overstated its wage data by $311,908 in its fiscal year (FY) 2003 cost report.

The OIG also found that the hospital understated hours by 1,865.

The OIG recommends that the hospital

  • submit a revised FY 2003 Medicare cost report

  • implement review and reconciliation procedures to ensure wage data reported on future Medicare cost reports are accurate, supportable, and in compliance with Medicare requirements
