While health information technology improves quality of care, most healthcare providers need more information about how to use these technologies successfully, according to a recent report from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
"Healthcare providers need reliable information that tells them what they can expect when they implement health IT systems," said AHRQ Director Carolyn M. Clancy, MD.
The report, Costs and Benefits of Health Information Technology, is a group of studies-AHRQ's $166 million health IT initiative-that examine the impact of health IT as well as the costs and organizational changes necessary to implement health IT systems.
