Medicare overpaid United Government Services (UGS) in Milwaukee by $516,303 for inpatient rehabilitation claims, the OIG has found.
The OIG reviewed UHS to determine whether the company's inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRF) correctly billed fiscal year-end inpatient rehabilitation claims during the transition to the prospective payment system in 2002.
The OIG found that 34 inpatient rehabilitation facilities did not bill 340 fiscal year-end claims in accordance with Medicare requirements.
The OIG recommends that United Government Services make the appropriate adjustments to paid claims that resulted in the overpayments, and continue education efforts.
