Q: How much information should we provide when complying with a subpoena for documents?
A: Minimum necessary requirements do not apply in this situation. However, you should only disclose PHI that is within the scope of the subpoena. For example, in response to an order of a court or administrative tribunal, you may disclose only the PHI that is expressly authorized by the order.
