What is an indirect treatment relationship?
- the healthcare provider delivers care to the individual based on the orders of another provider
- the healthcare provider typically provides services or products, or reports diagnoses or results, directly to another healthcare provider that interacts with the individual.
For example, radiologists and pathologists generally have indirect treatment relationships with patients because they deliver diagnostic services based on the orders of other providers and furnish results to the patient through the direct treating provider.
